Test Drive - October/November

You wake up... in your bed or wherever you went to sleep because your character is exactly where you left them. A revival of the classic LJ/DW game DramaDramaDuck (DDD), D3 is an attempt to capture the spirit of the classic with some adjustments. The name, and the names of many parts of the game, pays homage to the original while allowing it to be something different as I'm not a founder of the original. I just had fun there and thought it sounded fun now.

An Open Lid game, as opposed to a JamJar; your characters remain in their canon worlds and timelines but can access a magical network to connect to other canon's universes. You, with the help of your castmates should you have them, decide how they experience shape your remaining canon, even if it means nothing changes at all.

Welcome to the D3 test drive. Prompts are sparse because this is the game where you make the story. Some optional suggestions are:

A. Hit by an infection

Like it says on the label. Your character has been hit by one of the monthly infections that take place on the network. This particular infection shouldn't alter the personality too much if you're planning to use it as a sample. For more information on infections, read the faq found here.

B. Canon update

Something happen at home you want to share? Or don't want to share, but the network is showing anyway?

C. A call to arms

Trouble is brewing, and you need help? You have worlds full of superheroes to ask for help. That doesn't always mean they can reach you...

That's the down and dirty. Not quite as fancy as you're used to seeing, huh? D3 is a simple game. Or it's not. It's up to you, the player, to make your experience. There will also be a log community so you can do face-to-face meet ups, and anyone can go off-world this time.

To perhaps capture the group game feeling that differentiates D3 from memes, consider noting whether you're open to threadjacks with a subject line like so:

Character | Canon | Open/Not Open to threadjack

We recommend you read the following to help you along:

Reserves will open for the first time on October 1st and apps will follow October 7th. After they open, they'll remain open instead of having cycles.

I consider myself a competent enough cook, yes. However, I am always interested in trying new combinations and techniques to add to my repetoire.

...if it will allow me to ration effectively to survive the week, any recipe will do.

Baking bread yourself, vegetable stews and rice are in general, quite inexpensive. Bread especially helps since you can use it with anything.

Stews, as well, are quite helpful if you want to ration. A pot of stew, just for yourself, could last you for two to three days, depending on your appetite.

Rice is self-explanatory. Warm rice and egg is an entire meal.

Hmm... I already rely quite a bit on the versatility of rice. Rice porridge is one of my staples, in fact.

Stews should also be simple enough... although I had not given much thought to making my own bread. Does the process take long?

Rice porridge is great. But with cooked rice you can make a lot of other dishes (fried rice, rice balls, sushi, etc.)

Making bread can take some time, yes, but nothing bad. When you make the dough, you leave it to proof- if you need it immediately, it takes 30 minutes. If you don't need it, you can slow proof it in the refrigerator overnight or while you do other things during the day.

Hmm... is it possible to make sushi cheaply yet retain its quality? Such a beautifully crafted meal deserves only the best of ingredients and the guiding hand of a true expert.

...I may make an attempt at bread though. I should have ample time to work on my other projects while it rests.
