Test Drive - October/November

You wake up... in your bed or wherever you went to sleep because your character is exactly where you left them. A revival of the classic LJ/DW game DramaDramaDuck (DDD), D3 is an attempt to capture the spirit of the classic with some adjustments. The name, and the names of many parts of the game, pays homage to the original while allowing it to be something different as I'm not a founder of the original. I just had fun there and thought it sounded fun now.

An Open Lid game, as opposed to a JamJar; your characters remain in their canon worlds and timelines but can access a magical network to connect to other canon's universes. You, with the help of your castmates should you have them, decide how they experience shape your remaining canon, even if it means nothing changes at all.

Welcome to the D3 test drive. Prompts are sparse because this is the game where you make the story. Some optional suggestions are:

A. Hit by an infection

Like it says on the label. Your character has been hit by one of the monthly infections that take place on the network. This particular infection shouldn't alter the personality too much if you're planning to use it as a sample. For more information on infections, read the faq found here.

B. Canon update

Something happen at home you want to share? Or don't want to share, but the network is showing anyway?

C. A call to arms

Trouble is brewing, and you need help? You have worlds full of superheroes to ask for help. That doesn't always mean they can reach you...


That's the down and dirty. Not quite as fancy as you're used to seeing, huh? D3 is a simple game. Or it's not. It's up to you, the player, to make your experience. There will also be a log community so you can do face-to-face meet ups, and anyone can go off-world this time.

To perhaps capture the group game feeling that differentiates D3 from memes, consider noting whether you're open to threadjacks with a subject line like so:

Reserves will open for the first time on October 1st and apps will follow October 7th. After they open, they'll remain open instead of having cycles.

What, are you letting him know that somebody might be coming, or does that take talks with the other guy? Most nuns usually go for the peace stuff.

I mean... peace is nice, but sometimes you need a little bit of insurance. If someone out there wants to kill you, it won't help to turn the other cheek.

I'm not the audience you got to convert, but I'm not wearing a habit. Does it work that way? Shoot a few bullets, ask for forgiveness?

[ His tone is more curious than judgemental. Ash has his own gun, and it's well-used. Edna's just an outlier in the combination of outfit and firearm. ]

I personally ain't into the specifics, it's in between you and God. I'm not the kinda sister that tells you what God thinks. I just give you the tools.

What kind of tools are those? If you believed in the crosses, you wouldn't be carrying the gun.

I mean... the stuff I carry. I don't think believing in both is wrong.

Your church must be in a pretty rough part of town. How does it work? Your nun and gun business.

[We mean... it's basically a gun smuggling and selling business under the disguise of a catholic church. But Eda is still kinda obscuring the truth.]

It is.

Well, we have the normal things a church does. Mass, Confessions... if you ask us for certain kinds of help we will gladly give it to you if you can pay.

Talking to you from another world is a pretty good sign I've heard of weirder things.

Iiiiiii wouldn't say that. I mean... if you pay more we could probably do it, we just give people the tools.

It turns out if you hide behind the cross, you can pretty much go wherever you like, with whatever you like, and no one important questions you.

It's whatever though, keeps me paid.

It's true for a lot of uniforms. Dress like you're supposed to be there, and nobody's gonna question it. The habit, it's more powerful. People don't wanna question religion.

Seems like you can afford a fan if business isn't tanking.

I mean... I don't think we can send products to other worlds... maybe. I'll have to ask certain people about that.

I already have a supplier. He's annoying but his stuff's good.

But it might be useful if I find myself in a place he can't reach me.

One way to find out. I'm not in a place somebody can just drop in, but I can be in an hour. You'd probably have to deliver.
