d3memes | Test Drive - October/November

You wake up... in your bed or wherever you went to sleep because your character is exactly where you left them. A revival of the classic LJ/DW game DramaDramaDuck (DDD), D3 is an attempt to capture the spirit of the classic with some adjustments. The name, and the names of many parts of the game, pays homage to the original while allowing it to be something different as I'm not a founder of the original. I just had fun there and thought it sounded fun now.

An Open Lid game, as opposed to a JamJar; your characters remain in their canon worlds and timelines but can access a magical network to connect to other canon's universes. You, with the help of your castmates should you have them, decide how they experience shape your remaining canon, even if it means nothing changes at all.

Welcome to the D3 test drive. Prompts are sparse because this is the game where you make the story. Some optional suggestions are:

A. Hit by an infection

Like it says on the label. Your character has been hit by one of the monthly infections that take place on the network. This particular infection shouldn't alter the personality too much if you're planning to use it as a sample. For more information on infections, read the faq found here.

B. Canon update

Something happen at home you want to share? Or don't want to share, but the network is showing anyway?

C. A call to arms

Trouble is brewing, and you need help? You have worlds full of superheroes to ask for help. That doesn't always mean they can reach you...

That's the down and dirty. Not quite as fancy as you're used to seeing, huh? D3 is a simple game. Or it's not. It's up to you, the player, to make your experience. There will also be a log community so you can do face-to-face meet ups, and anyone can go off-world this time.

To perhaps capture the group game feeling that differentiates D3 from memes, consider noting whether you're open to threadjacks with a subject line like so:

If you're open for tours, I'm learning a little bit about Japan.

[ It'll be a good chance to test some things offworld, too. Ash hasn't experimented with it very much. ]

I don't mind. Tokyo is an interesting place for people to visit. Just let me know when and I'll see what I can do between school and modeling.

[ Ash will try to fit it in... between shooting people... ]

The capital, right? Time doesn't seem to keep moving when I'm offworld so I can hop over when you're free.

Yes. It has a lot of different wards that have their own identities. Or are known for very specific things. But it's fun and really pretty.

[She pauses to give her schedule a thought.]

I have free time in a couple days through the middle of next week after school. Or if you think you'll need the whole day Sunday works.

We'll make it Sunday. I'm not planning on leaving my world too much so we'll make a day of it while I'm already off.

Sounds good. Is something happening on your world that makes you not want to leave it too often?

Just some stuff I need to stick around for. Probably not as exciting as the modeling life.

[ If he diverting attention? Yes he is. ]

Modeling life isn't nearly as exciting as you think when you're just starting out. It's a lot of shoots around Tokyo that's all.

[he doesn't have to tell her she was just curious is all.]

[ She's been perfectly sweet but in his life, actively hiding something just makes people more curious. Even if Ann isn't the same way, Ash can't know it yet. ]

That's about what I'd expect. Maybe some parties and creepy photographers thrown in.

[Considering the things she has to hide from people, she's very quick to accept rather than question if only so they don't question why she has to dodge something herself.]

No creepy photographers, I'm not that popular yet. And I've only had to go to one party.

[ A trait they share. If you push, people push back. It's better to drop if they don't want to explain. ]

You don't have to be too popular to earn the creepy ones, just the good ones.

Is it the kind of thing that means you'd be recognized during the tour?

[It's a boundaries thing. If she respects his he'll respect hers and she won't have to lie to him.]

Don't I know it about the creeps.

But we should be fine. Most people don't realize I'm a model unless I'm standing next to my picture in a magazine in front of them.

[ She's a pretty girl. Ash isn't someone who's really drawn to looks, but he's someone well aware of what makes someone attractive. It's no surprise that she's a model or that she knows about creeps. Again, it's filed into 'probably something she doesn't want to have a casual conversation about'. ]

If you're walking around with a magazine of yourself, being recognized probably isn't gonna be the biggest problem.

There's a time difference between us, right? It's about 7 PM here.

[If she can avoid talking about Kamoshida ever she will. It was not a fun time and one she prefers not revisit. And while her friends can get a little weird about her being a model it's nothing to the level of her PE teacher.]

I'm not usually carrying a magazine with me in it. I may get one now and again as a thank you and to show me what the final result looked like. Usually if it happens I'm walking by a newstand and someone is looking at the magazine to notice.

Mhm, it's 8am here. So that's what thirteen hours?

Yeah. Time's weird between worlds, though. Three days for me could be three minutes for you. You'll have to pop up and let me know when it's Sunday.

I can do that. Kind of wish it'd all line-up on some level though. It would be easier.

That'd make it harder to hop off-world. So far, time seems to stop when I'm gone. If it kept moving, most of us couldn't afford to just disappear for a full day.

Probably but if at least the days synced up now and again that would be nice. You know?

There's a lot of things that'd make this thing easier. Some kind of control over it would make it less of a pain. I keep waiting for the world jumping to happen randomly.

Do you really think that's possible?

I'm surprised it hasn't happened already. It's already turning on whenever it wants, even when it wasn't even in the same room.

Maybe it has and we haven't heard about it. Though I guess we probably would have if it had.

People are pretty open about spilling stuff when it happens. I haven't seen anybody mention it, but I don't look at everything posted, either.

I'm just gonna be happy while it doesn't. It'd be a pain in the ass to get pulled away when I'm busy. It would be like pulling you away in the middle of a shoot.

That would be a lot if you did. Sometimes this has a lot going on. I can't imagine trying to keep track of all of it.

Yeah, that wouldn't be good. I'd probably get labeled as flaky or something and it would just snowball from there.
